Once again, Town and Gown Theatre picks a winner to close out its season with the delightfully wicked and funny “The Addams Family.”  This musical gets the audience’s toes to tapping, fingers snapping, and tickles the funny bone with the antics of a slightly older Addams Family.

The Addams Family and the entrance of Ancestors.

Gomez and Morticia Addams are facing the dilemma all parents do when their children grow up and fall in love with someone crazier than they are–or maybe in this case, more normal than they are. Our story finds Wednesday Addams in love with a sweet, smart, young man from a respectable “normal” family. Lucas Beineke is a man who her parents have never met.

Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother that she and Lucas plan to wed. Meanwhile, the young man in question arrives with his parents in tow to meet Wednesday’s family.

Gomez is torn between being honest with his wife and breaking his promise to his daughter.

Ryan Gonzales performs brilliantly as Gomez. With excellent timing and a strong voice, Gonzales’ performance is believable and entertaining.

Gomez Addams and Mal Beineke get to know one another.

Recent Stillwater High graduate, Bailey Bovenschen is equally convincing as the imposing and seductive Morticia Addams. Bovenschen’s sultry vocals and performance exhibit a maturity beyond her years and we predict great things for the future of this Oklahoma City University Musical Theatre and Vocal Performance major.

Bailey Bovenschen strikes a pose as Morticia Addams.

Kayla Hurd’s stone-faced Wednesday Addams does a beautiful job of torturing her little brother, Pugsley, played by the delightful Caroline Harrist.

Wednesday Addams tortures Pugsley Addams.

Hurd does an even better job of providing the conflict by placing Gomez in the awkward position of lying to his beloved Morticia.

Practically stealing the show is Franky Kukuk as Fester Addams. Fester is as crazy as it gets and Kukuk completely surrenders to the kookiness of the comedic role.

Lauren Reece as the “Moon” and Franky Kukuk as Fester Addams.

It’s difficult to single out each and every performer in this production. Every single cast member–including the phenomenal chorus of Addams family ancestors–contributes to the entertainment value of this show.

This is Renae Perry’s first production as Director and we are thrilled to declare it a resounding success! The show is pure entertainment–from choreography to vocals to comedy–it is just plain FUN!
