Annual Boots & Bandanas Dinner, Dessert, & Auction to be held August 10, 2017

This year’s annual Boots and Bandanas BBQ Dinner and Dessert Auction will be held at Meditations on August 10, 2017 at 7pm.  At 6pm there will be a cash bar and the opportunity to check out the goodies available for auction. The cost for dinner is $65.00 and all proceeds will benefit Mission of Hope, which began operation in 1988, and Stillwater Community Health Center, which began in 1993.

Last year Boots and Bandanas raised over $20,000 to support the missions of these two organizations and they hope to do even better this year. For the clinic this would mean expanding prescription services.  For Mission of Hope, the proceeds from Boots and Bandanas go toward meeting the basic needs of clients so that they can focus on rebuilding their lives.

The mission of the Stillwater Community Health Center  is to promote a healthy community by providing compassionate healthcare to the medically underserved in Payne County. Through volunteer physicians SCHC provides doctor appointments at the clinic on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Provided services help with diabetes, thyroid problems, high blood pressure, allergies, and skin rashes to name a few examples.  SCHC also provides prescription medications, through an on-site pharmacy.  This is all accomplished through funding from the local community.

Mission of Hope assists homeless individuals and families in becoming self-sufficient to acquire and retain permanent housing. The main site houses a men’s dorm for 10, a women’s dorm for 6 and 10 transitional units. Mission of Hope has offsite permanent supportive housing for disabled persons as well as disabled veterans who are chronically homeless. Mission of Hope offers housing, food, comprehensive case management, transportation, laundry facilities and life skills training.
