Arti Gras 6×6

Stillwater’s Modella Gallery is hosting its first annual Arti Gras 6×6 Exhibit and Silent Auction. The exhibit will open on Thursday, February 21, and will be on display until February 23, 2019.  The party will be Saturday, February 23, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, with the close of the Silent Auction and “People’s Choice Awards” announced at 8:00 pm. There will be live music, Cajun food and a Bloody Mary Bar. All are encouraged to come in costume! A “selfie photo booth” will be on hand.

Artists of all ages are invited to enter in any media, provided the submission does not exceed 6”x6” any direction including framing. There are two categories – Youth Division is for ages up through and including age 17, and Adult Division is 18 and above. “People’s Choice” awards will be given for First Place in both categories ($50 for Youth and $100 for Adult), with hand-crafted ribbons for 2nd and 3rd. Tickets for voting on “People’s Choice” may be purchased at the gallery.

Entries should depict, symbolize, incorporate or be representational in some way of the following theme(s), individually or in any combination:

Mardi Gras

  • The color purple* (and/or symbolize Justice)
  • The color green* (and/or symbolize Faith)
  • The color gold* (and/or symbolize Power

*Purple for Justice, gold for Power and green for Faith are the “official colors/symbols” of Mardi Gras.

Artists can submit up to 3 entries, and no entry fees, but all artwork will be offered for sale via silent auction at a starting bid of $75 (Adult category) and $25 (Youth category), with the artist receiving 50% and Modella receiving 50%. Artists may choose to donate their proceeds to Modella.
