Auditions set for Town & Gown Theatre’s production of “Cooking With Gus”

Media Release

Stillwater’s Town & Gown Theatre is excited to announce the audition dates for its April production of “Cooking With Gus,” a hilarious comedy sure to keep audiences in stitches.

“Cooking With Gus” centers on famous food columnist and cookbook author Gussie Richardson, who is offered her own daily network television show. She is thrilled about the opportunity, but her husband is dead set against it. When Gussie decides to give it a try anyway, she freezes in front of the camera, overwhelmed with stage fright. Everyone pitches in to help, but just when she thinks she’s cured, the taping turns into a comic nightmare, concluding in an all-out food fight that almost ends the show – and her marriage.

Director Glynna Worley chose a play she knew audiences would love.  “This is a great date night show,” Worley explained. “There will be laughs for everyone, a chicken act and, yes, food fights!”  The show is recommended for ages 10 and up.

Auditions for “Cooking With Gus” will be held at Town & Gown Theatre in Stillwater on Sunday, January 20th and Monday, January 21st at 7:00 p.m.   The auditions will consist of readings from the script, so there is no need to bring a prepared monologue.  The play includes two adult male and two adult female characters. Previous acting experience is helpful, but not required.

“Cooking With Gus” will run for eight performances, from April 4th to 7th and 11th to 14th.  For more information about auditions, contact director Glynna Worley at [email protected].
