City Promotes Five to Role of Journey Linemen

MEDIA RELEASE

The City of Stillwater congratulates five members of our Electric Utility team who were recently promoted to journey linemen.

  • Brandon Davis
  • Seth Gibson
  • Michael Mills
  • Jacob Stockwell
  • Kevin Towler

These five individuals successfully completed a four-year apprenticeship program that requires 8,000 hours of on-the-job training (2,000 hours per year) to evolve physical skills and learn other curriculum.

Candidates are required to take a yearly written test and a final cumulative test at the end of the four years. They must achieve a score of 85 percent or higher on each test to proceed to the next step in the program.

Stillwater has been a community-owned electric utility since 1901 and has owned its own electric generation since 1903. Stillwater is the second largest municipal electric utility in the state as well as the largest transmission owner and electric generator.

The Stillwater Electric Utility is one of 191 of the nation’s public power utilities to earn the Reliable Public Power Provider designation from the American Public Power Association for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service.
