Makeover Masterpiece

Story and photos provided by LaRitz Salon & Spa

Great news everyone, fall is finally here! ‘Tis the season for football, bonfires, pumpkin spice, and beautiful hair. Fall is a transitional season for hair color. When looking for your perfect trendy fall color, you will see a variety of shades. These include rooted blondes, balayage, bold copper reds, and pastel hues.

When trying to explain what they want, most of our guests bring in inspiration pictures from Pinterest. Balayage, ombre, and babylights are still very valid terms being used to describe the looks our guests are wanting. Images of these looks are all over Pinterest and other social media platforms. These sites have been a game changer for communication between stylist and guest. What our guests love most about these looks is the low maintenance factor. While this is true, please understand that the first appointment(s) will be lengthier than a traditional highlight service. This being said, you will be able to stretch out the time between appointments. A term you might start hearing more of is “hair painting”. This refers to any one or combination of the words mentioned above. Why colorists love hair painting:

  1. Fully customizable color for each guest that sits in our chair.
  2. Getting to use our creativity and artistic skills.
  3. Beautiful hair from day one to week eight.
  4. Perfect content for our social media accounts.

Justin Issac, Redken Global Colorist, recently told stylecaster.com that he “predicts that a less-done look is going to peak this year.” Hair painting is a perfect technique in achieving a more lived in, low maintenance color for fall.

Vibrant and pastel colors are also going to be a huge trend this fall for our more bold guests. These include greens, violets, and blues for darker hair, reds and coppers for medium to light hair, and pastel pinks, blues, violets, and silvers for light hair. Redken just launched some new pastel shades to their award winning Demi-permanent color line. This will equip your colorist with more options when creating the perfect pastel shade.
