National Night Out 2016

The Stillwater Police Department Community Outreach Program (C.O.P.)  is hosting Stillwater’s observance of National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2, in conjunction with community partners like the Stillwater Medical Center who will be giving out beach towels and OnCue who will provide water.  The event will be held from 6-9pm at Southern Woods Park where the block will be shut down to allow for food vendors, inflatables, and a dunk-a-cop tank. Proceeds from the dunk-a-cop tank will go toward funding C.O.P.  Pistol Pete is scheduled to make an appearance as well.  The community is invited to come out, bring lawn chairs, footballs, basketballs, and meet area first responders as well as their neighbors.

“National Night Out was established in 1984 with funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice and is administered by the National Association of Town Watch, a nationwide organization dedicated to the development, maintenance, and protection of community-based law enforcement-affiliated crime prevention activities. National Night Out was developed as a crime prevention program that emphasizes building a partnership between the police and the community. Community involvement in crime prevention is generated through a multitude of local events, such as block parties, cookouts, parades, contests, youth activities, and seminars.” –Source https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/bja/180775.pdf
