Stillwater Short Play Festival Returns

An underwear laden clothesline with a sign proclaiming “You’ve been briefed!” is coming to a business near you. These “briefs” will be flapping in the breeze to promote the upcoming Stillwater Shorts Festival.  Proceeds from this year’s event will go to support area children through the Kickin’ Childhood Hunger organization.  The clothes-line advertising will help spread the word about the shorts festival while raising additional funds in support of the event. Businesses and individuals who get “briefed” will make a donation to Kickin’ Childhood Hunger and have the sign and its accompanying boxer shorts moved to the next business or individual of their choice.   “We hope those boxer shorts find their way all around town,” Debbie Sutton, Town & Gown’s Troupe d’ Jour Director said. “We want everyone wondering, where will they will turn up next?”

The festival features six 15-minute plays written by playwright from throughout the state of Oklahoma and will be performed on May 20th at 7:00 PM and May 21st at 2:30 PM at Town and Gown Community Theatre.  During the festival performances, audience members will be encouraged to “Stuff the Shorts” to vote for their favorite play. The People’s Choice Award will be announced after the final performance on Sunday, May 21st.

Tickets for the event are available at Forman Harley-Davidson, 3512 S Boomer Rd, Stillwater (south of town on Perkins Road), from Kicking Childhood Hunger board members, or by contacting Lynn Youngblood at 377-0045 X 304.   Ticket prices are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  All donations to Kickin’ Childhood Hunger are tax deductible.
