Airmen of Note to Perform Free Concert in Stillwater!

Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity!  On Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 7:30pm, the United States Air Force Airmen of Note will perform a concert as part of their three day Oklahoma community relations tour with stops in Tulsa, Stillwater, and Norman for the 2016 Jazz in June Festival.

This concert is family friendly and free to the public.  It will take place at the Seretean Center Concert Hall located at the corner of Morrill Ave. and Knoblock.

Doors will open 30 minutes before the performance time for ticket holders. All unlcaimed seats will be released to non-ticket holders 15 minutes before.  Tickets may be reserved online at http://jazz.okstate.edu. Or you may pick in person at Seretean Center Concert Hall Music Office Monday-Friday 10am-5pm.

This tour takes place on the heels of a new Airmen of Note studio recording session (which will be released later this year). The band will be lighting up the stage performing selections from this repertoire. The new recording will feature a cross section of never recorded selections by the Airmen of Note’s top arrangers from its inception through today.

Two members of this outstanding Jazz ensemble have Oklahoma ties.  MSgt Ben Patterson was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Sapulpa before attending the University of North Texas jazz program.  SMSgt Kevin Burns (NCOIC, Assistant Flight Chief, and split lead trumpet) studied at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He completed a Bachelor of Music degree in performance and a Master of Business Administration degree. SMSgt Bruns played lead trumpet with the nationally televised “Richard Roberts Live” and “Expect A Miracle” television shows in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He also was a featured soloist with the Oklahoma Synphonia/Tulsa Pops, the Tulsa Ballet, and Ms. Oklahoma Pageant Orchestra.  SMSgt Burns has worked extensively with various big bands in Oklahoma.

Five of the ensemble members (CMSgt Tim Leahey, MSgt Doug Morgan, MSgt Geoff Reecer, TSgt Kevin Cerovich, and TSgt Cameron Kayne) recently returned from a 6 month deployment overseas entertaining troops, and bolstering international relations.
