Apply to join the Citizens Transportation Study Committee

Story by City of Stillwater

Now is your chance to provide the City of Stillwater with help on three transportation improvement projects. If you’re interested in helping to develop solutions for the Husband Street Bike Corridor, the Southwest School Project and the future of a 6th Avenue corridor, apply to join the Citizens Transportation Study Committee by Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 5 p.m.

Members of the committee will be asked to evaluate projects in regard to the long-term planning of the community. Members may be assigned to a work on one of the following three projects.

  • Husband Street Bike Corridor
This project aims to provide an alternative transportation corridor from 7th Avenue to Franklin Street, establishing connections to OSU, Strickland Park and downtown Stillwater. Citizens of the committee will help research the impact and make recommendations on  this project. • Southwest School Project
Help the City evaluate options for reducing traffic congestion associated with Stillwater Middle School, Sangre Ridge Elementary and the Meridian Technology Center. Committee members would help select an outside consultant and discuss improvements for all forms of transportation in the area.
  • 6th Avenue Improvements
How should the 6th Avenue corridor from Western to Perkins roads be developed for future use? The City is looking for input on connectivity, future developments, streetscapes, utility locations and more for the 6th Avenue corridor as the Oklahoma Department of Transportation begins to design improvements for safety and traffic flow.
