Around Town

Story by Ammie Bryant, Editor

Sometimes when we are out and about around town, cool products, services, or experiences catch our attention, or we stumble upon a hidden gem that we want to share with our readers throughout the community. Stillwater has so many great things to offer, we can’t help but to crow about it!

This time of year, we are thinking about holiday gift-giving. According to my mother, it’s never too early to start buying gifts for Christmas. If you are looking for great stocking stuffers for the little ones in your life, look no further. We know of two great places to shop for unique, great quality gifts that you won’t find at a local big box store.

Stillwater History Museum at the Sheerar, 702 S. Duncan St.

The local history museum’s gift shop is a great place to find not only books for your favorite history buff but also toys! These are the kinds of toys that Santa’s elves must surely make in his shop at the North Pole. They are definitely the kinds of toys your grandparents and great-grandparents grew up playing with. No electronics here! From marbles, jacks, tops, and yo-yos to rag dolls, sewing kits, kazoos, and ocarinas there are plenty of options to make an Old Fashioned Christmas perfect!

Even better? Profits from your purchase go to support the Museum’s mission to preserve and present Stillwater’s history! The Museum is open Tuesdays-Fridays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visit sheerarmuseum.org for more information.

Oklahoma WONDERtorium, 308 W. Franklin Ln.

Ruthie’s Shop of WONDER extends the  WONDERtorium’s mission to inspire curiosity to learn for a lifetime. The Museum’s gift shop offers a great selection of toys, books, puzzles and more with great quality brands like Melissa and Doug and Ambi Toys. If you are looking for educational toys, Ruthie’s Shop of WONDER at the WONDERTORIUM is a great place to do so. The WONDERTORIUM is open Tuesdays-Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visit okwondetorium.org for more information.
