Modella Art Gallery will host an artist talk with exhibiting artist, Brian Dehart, on Sunday, February 11th from 3-4 pm at the Modella Gallery in Downtown Stillwater, 721 S. Main. Dehart, a professional artist from Tulsa will discuss his current exhibition of drawings and prints. His work, part of the exhibition, is a series of prints that combine drawing techniques and digital manipulation. His process involves reworking an image over time, ultimately distorting or exaggerating its original composition. Dehart graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1997 with a Bachelors in Fine Art. He later moved to New York, where he received his Masters and showcased his work in Manhattan and Brooklyn. His renowned work has been featured in publications like New American Paintings and Artworld Digest, receiving critical acclaim in Oklahoma and New York. In his lecture, he will discuss his artistic process and intentions, and answer questions about his work.
In addition, the second artist presentation will be Sat., Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. The documentary was researched and filmed by Ron duBois, who was awarded a Fulbright Research Scholar Grant and the African Regional Research Program to document Nigerian women potters. “Yoruba Potters: Mothers and Daughters-Dada Compound” is a documentation of the superb Yoruba craftswomen at work. The documentary shows the production of vessels made without a potter’s wheel to the dramatic firing of more than 1,000 vessels…the largest “open field” firing in the world. The artist lectures will be located at 721 S. Main in Downtown Stillwater and is open to the public. The exhibition Dehart & du Bois will be open until February 17th.
