CASA for Kids Volunteer of the Month for April 2020

Story provided by CASA for Kids serving Payne and Logan Counties

Elizabeth Beck is CASA’s April Volunteer of the Month. Elizabeth is originally from Arkansas and has lived in Stillwater for more than a decade. She is the franchise owner of Card My Yard, a mother, and soon-to-be grandmother. Elizabeth has been a CASA six years. She is working on her fourth case and has served four children in her time with the organization.

Elizabeth’s first connected with CASA after serving at an adoption event with her Lifegroup.

“Children who come from tough places have always tugged at my heart,” she said. “The Lord made very clear that my next step was serving abused/neglected children. It’s been my absolute best ‘yes!’”

Children of all ages need a CASA. Elizabeth particularly enjoys working with teens. She says they need mentorship and a safe place to “land.”

“Being a CASA allows me to make a tremendous investment into the lives of children and families,” Elizabeth said. “These children are the real heroes and their courage reminds me to keep leaning in and fighting for their voice.”

Not even COVID-19 can stop CASA from making a difference. Virtual training sessions are on-going, and CASAs are using phone, email and teleconferencing to complete their duties. To learn more about what is involved in serving as a CASA, visit casaforkids.com or call 405-624-2242.
