CASA for Kids Volunteer of the Month for September 2018

Story and photo provided by CASA for Kids of Payne and Logan Counties

Amy Hoffman is the September CASA Volunteer of the Month. Amy was born and raised in Stillwater and has been married to her husband, who is a Stillwater Police officer, for 20 years. They have 6 children. Amy’s father was a lawyer and her mother worked at Payne County Courthouse so she grew up around the legal profession. While spending time at the courthouse with her parents she learned about CASA.

Amy worked for Wal-Mart in Asset Protection Management for 11 years then left her career to care for her aging mother. She is currently employed at Stillwater High School. While caring for her mother she was able to stay at home with her 2 youngest children and also be available for her grandchildren. In addition, this has allowed her to foster 2 family members who had been placed in protective services. While fostering Amy found out more about CASA and what they could offer children. During the time Amy fostered she became the voice for her family members and has seen the overwhelming need for more volunteers. As a foster parent and now a CASA Volunteer, Amy feels like things have come full circle. Knowing there are so many children out there who don’t have any one to speak up for them, she decided to be the difference.

Amy works full time, has to young children at home and her older daughter and 2 grandchildren now live with them.  Life is chaotic but Amy still finds the time to help transform the life of the child she has been serving for the past 1.5 years.  Will you be the one to help transform a child’s life?

Visit casaforkids.com or call 405-624-2242 to learn more about how you can join the movement and make a difference in a child’s life.
