CASA’s March Volunteer of Month is Linda Miller. The Oklahoma native grew up in Perry, one of eight children. She attended Oklahoma Christian College receiving a degree in accounting. After college she moved to Tulsa to work for the IRS and later went on to build her career with Wilson Auto Group where she has worked on and off for 30 years.

After reading the book, “Crazy Love,” Linda became increasingly interested in living out her faith and finding ways to do that. “I wanted a way to share my love for people,” she said.

A friend’s Facebook post about the need for CASA volunteers pointed her toward a possible answer. Linda has now been serving as a CASA for two years. She is still working on her first case, serving two children.

“It’s been encouraging in many ways,” Linda said. “The younger one is finding a love a books. It’s a good parenting skill to read to kids. People don’t always realize how important it is for a child’s development; it something I encourage all parents to do.”

When asked what has surprised her about being a CASA, Linda replied, “There is a lot of research to be done. You can’t just go in and love people. You also have to have knowledge to do that effectively and meet the goal of finding permanency for these kids.”

There are many ways to “Say ‘Yes’ to CASA.” If you are interested in finding ways to get involved, call CASA for Kids in Payne and Logan County at 405-624-2242 or email [email protected]
