Last night, Stillwater City Council unanimously advanced Ordinance No. 3452 requiring face coverings in public, with proposed changes. The ordinance must be considered at a second reading and published before going into effect— the date for the second reading is not yet determined.
This ordinance comes as a result of concern for the recent rise in COVID-19 cases within the Stillwater community. The ordinance requires that everyone wears a face covering in all public spaces, including educational institutions, food services, retail and personal service establishments that provides goods or services directly to the public. Exceptions to this requirement are outlined within the ordinance. If the ordinance passes on the second read, it will remain in effect through Nov. 30, 2020.
Residents may view the initial ordinance that council considered here. This ordinance is not in effect and may be altered according to council’s recommendations when presented at second reading.
When a date for second reading is determined, it will be announced on the City’s website at Stillwater.org and its Facebook (@CityOfStillwater) and Twitter (@StillwaterOKgov).
