This week, a new delivery came to the City. The City of Stillwater now houses an Anolyte Generator, which produces a virus-killing salt water solution to be used for disinfecting public spaces. The generator was purchased by the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (ODEMHS) and will be used to distribute solution to surrounding public agencies, public schools, long-term care and healthcare facilities, daycares and businesses as available.
“We’re honored to be chosen by the state as one of the 12 sites selected for these generators. Being able to provide this solution in a higher volume to public facilities means a new way to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” Emergency Management Director Rob Hill said.
The Anolyte Generator, purchased by the state from Service Wing Organic Solutions, produces EPA-approved hypochlorous acid (HOCl) to control viral, bacterial and fungal transmission. It is a non-toxic, salt-water brine that destroys bacteria and pathogens on porous and non-porous surfaces. The Anolyte solution is biodegradable, certified USDA organic and is safe for use around humans and animals without personal protection equipment.
The City’s generator can produce 25 gallons of the solution per hour with a shelf-life of 30 days or longer if pH balance is maintained, to be distributed for free. The City is currently working to distribute the solution to selected public facilities, with future plans to work with the Chamber of Commerce to identify Stillwater businesses who may be interested in participating. The solution is not currently being distributed to the public.
