Classic Cinema at the Center to present “The Long Hot Summer” this Friday, Aug. 13th

Story provided by Vickie Sturgeon

Classic Cinema at the Center presents The Long Hot Summer, a 1958 drama based on works by William Faulkner.  In a small, Mississippi town, Patriarch Will Varner is pressuring his children to give him grandchildren.  His daughter Clara must be married.   When young Ben Quick comes to town — the path to matrimony heats up.  The Long Hot Summer is about as steamy and sexy as a movie gets in mainstream, 1950s Hollywood.   Joanne Woodward portrays Clara and Paul Newman is Ben in their first movie together.  Woodward and Newman married shortly after.  Martin Ritt directs cast members Orson Welles, Angela Lansbury, Lee Remick and Anthony Franciosa.

Join us Friday, August 13 at 7 pm for this entertaining movie in the Winfrey Houston Auditorium of the Stillwater Community Center at 8th and Duck.  As always, admission and refreshments are free.
