The Oklahoma State University Symphony Orchestra is one of two U.S. orchestras that will perform at the 2020 College Orchestra Directors Association National Conference.

The event will take place Feb. 6-8 in Vancouver, Canada.

The OSUSO will play in the opening ceremony.

Thomas Dickey, director of the OSUSO, submitted the recordings of some of last year’s performances to the College Orchestra Directors Association.

Earlier this summer, the OSUSO was announced as a finalist for the American Prize in Orchestral Performance Competition.

The American Prize is a series of new, nonprofit national competitions in the performing arts providing cash awards, professional adjudication and regional, national and international recognition for the best recorded performances each year in the United States at the professional, college/university, church, community and secondary school levels.

Last year, the OSUSO was also a finalist for the American Prize, and Dickey won the American Prize in conducting.

The OSUSO is the only orchestral program in Oklahoma to be a finalist for the American Prize in Orchestral Performance. The other group performing at the College Orchestra Director’s Association National Conference is the Cornell (University) Chamber Orchestra.
