From the Editor (December 2019)

The holidays evoke memories of family get togethers and traditions that make this time of the year so special. Some memories make us warm and nostalgic while others are bitter sweet. For me, those memories make me want to soak up the time I have with our children while we still have them at home to enjoy these moments all together under one roof.

While we are enjoying our traditions and making new memories, we also turn our thoughts to how we can spread our blessings to those around us. In this issue, we have several stories about local opportunities to “pay it forward” to those in need. Operation Christmas and “Adopt-a-Family” are two separate efforts to spread blessings to those in need.  We know there are many other organizations in our community offering similar services and while we don’t have room to highlight all of them, each makes us proud to be part of a caring community.

In the last issue of SLM, we had a story about the launch of a brand-new tradition in our community with Merry Main Street.  If you haven’t made your way downtown to participate in the activities and visit the specialty retail shops on Block 34, be sure to do so soon! Merry Main Street is an exciting new addition to our town’s holiday traditions and we hope to see it expand and grow into something truly special for years to come.

Between the spirit of spreading good cheer and all of the holiday traditions, both old and new, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

From our house to yours, here’s wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Joyous New Year!
