Doggy Style!

Meet Carley! Don’t let her size fool you, this sassy little girl has a BIG personality, much like most Shih Tzus. Carley loves to play outside, in fact, her favorite activity is playing in the new outdoor daycare area at Trinity Veterinary Hospital and Pet Resort with all her canine companions (although her BFF is a Border Collie puppy named Bryn). At home, Carley likes playing outside with her two-legged brothers Clayton, Brady, and Grant, where she is not the most lady-like and often, gets a little dirty. Thankfully, our salon is equipped with very skilled hands and excellent products to get Carley back to her beautiful, spunky self.

To begin, Carley was bathed with our vanilla sugar shampoo which not only cleaned her coat but softened it as well. Next, Carley’s face was washed with a blueberry facial to help reduce tear stains around her eyes and remove bacteria between her wrinkles. After her anal glands were expressed, she was rinsed down and the whole process was repeated to ensure that Carley was squeaky clean and smelled fabulous! Carley then had her teeth brushed with our vanilla mint scented toothpaste to help prevent tartar build-up and leave her breath minty fresh. Then she was blow dried, brushed out, and had her nails trimmed and filed before Hannah gave Carley her haircut.

Miss Carley is sporting a typical short and fluffy pet clip for a Shih Tzu which leaves about half an inch of hair on the body with the classic round head. Her ears were cleaned out of hair and wax and left full to give her a more feminine look. Her tail was untangled and trimmed to even it out. To ensure that Carley had a relaxing Spa day, Hannah gave her an aromatherapy massage with a diluted lavender and chamomile scented essential oil made for pets. Valentine’s Day bows and a bandana were added, and Carley was spritzed with a Raspberry finishing spray to leave her smelling fresh for weeks (or until she rolls in poop again)!

During her visit to Trinity Veterinary Hospital and Pet Resort, Dr. Carey Bonds also performed a complete physical examination, updated her vaccinations, and performed wellness testing. To make sure Carley is not over-vaccinated, her wellness plan was revised to include our new Extended Vaccination Protocol that is based on the 2017 American Animal Hospital Association guidelines. These guidelines provide a basis for core vaccinations to be given every 3 years instead of annually, helping to ensure protection without negative side effects or reactions.
