From the Editor (June 2018)

Besides heralding the end of the school year and the beginning of summer break, June is also National Safety Month. Observed annually in June, National Safety Month focuses on reducing causes of injury and death at work, home, and throughout the community. In honor of Safety Month, we focused several of our stories around this theme. From grilling and food safety, to pet safety, sun safety, and gun safety, we wanted to share some resources to make our readers’ lives safer. We know that what we offer in this issue is but a drop in the bucket of all the educational resources out there so we encourage you to explore additional resources available through the National Safety Council’s website at nsc.org.

This month, we also have stories about upcoming garden tours and exhibits that you won’t want to miss plus news about Boomer Blast and the return of Missoula Children’s Theater in July.

Be sure to read Roger Moore’s tribute to Flag Day with a look at the history of these iconic symbols. Also, this month, we honor CASA for Kids’ Volunteers and share how you can help Altrusa gather school supplies for 1,000 Payne County students. And of course, we have another great Makeover Masterpiece from LaRitz Salon and Spa and another segment of “Around Town” featuring great products, services, and attractions that we think you should know about.

Enjoy your summer, friends! Until next month, onward!
