From the Editor (October 2017)

Welcome October!

Tis the season for pumpkin picking, comfort food, and—as long as the weather decides to cooperate—sweaters. Between Homecoming and Halloween, Stillwater is a special place to be. It’s a big part of what makes this little city of ours “home.”

This month’s issue reflects some of what we think makes Stillwater so special this time of year. We have stories about the kick off of the annual Harvest II food drive and a look back at the history of Harvest, Halloween, and Homecoming. We’ve also put together a list of some of our favorite events and activities in the area to serve as your guide to a fun-filled fall.

One of our favorite local artists, Jude Tolar, has teamed up with retired art teacher, Jill Webber, for a special art show at the end of the month, and we have that story as well.

Don’t miss the recipe for one of my seasonal favorites, chicken tortilla soup, from contributor, Karyl Henry of Karyl’s Kulinary Krusade food blog.

Be sure to look for the special interview from the team at Visit Stillwater with a returning holiday attraction. It’s hard to believe it, but the holidays are just around the corner.

Now that we’ve finished this issue, I’m going to take a break to plant my mums and carve some pumpkins with my family. Those pumpkin seeds aren’t going to roast themselves you know!

Onward!
