From the Editor (September 2019)

By Ammie Bryant

Oh, it’s a long, long while from May to December, but the days grow short when you reach September, when the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame…

The leaves of brown came tumblin’ down, remember in the September rain. The sun went out just like a dying ember, that September in the rain.

Do you remember the 21st night of September?  Love was changing the minds of pretenders while chasing the clouds away.

Like my fathers come to pass, twenty years has gone so fast. Wake me up when September ends. Wake me up when September ends.

What is it about September that inspires so many September songs? The lyrics above only reference the four songs that I could think of off the top of my head. Is it the waning of summer and the impending change of seasons? Whatever it is, I’m so here for it!

This month, our issue is full of stories about some of the people, places, and events that make our community such a great place to live, work, and play. I hope this September brings you lots of opportunities to make the kind of long-lasting memories that have inspired September songs for generations.

Until next month, onward!
