This month’s makeover is perfect for the transition into summer. Brooke Pohlmeier was a referral to our salon from one of her friends who had come to LaRitz. Brooke is a student at Oklahoma State University and works part-time at Old Navy. She really loves watching movies, listening to music, spending time with people and getting to know them better.
“My family is great. My mom and dad have been married for twenty-three years and their love is something I hope for one day. I have one younger brother and my life would be so boring without him,” says Brooke.
Brooke’s usual style is simple and natural. While she dresses up sometimes, she usually just applies mascara and makes sure her hair doesn’t look messy.
With the weather getting warmer, Brooke decided to try one of the hottest trends right now, balayage. Stylist, Baby Phares gave Brooke a warm base to match her natural color while adding bright pieces, especially to frame Brooke’s face. For her haircut, Baby added some layers to create movement throughout, which also allows Brooke’s curls to bounce up and have more volume. To style, Baby first applied Redken’s Pillow Proof Primer cream and spray for a faster and smoother blow dry. She used a round brush when drying to give volume and smoothness to Brooke’s hair. Baby created flat iron curls, setting them with Pureology’s Strengthening Control hairspray. This technique gave Brooke’s hair the perfect beachy texture.
To begin Brooke’s makeup application, Baby prepped her skin with bareMinerals’ Skinlongevity. Baby used Correcting Concealer in Light 1 under her eye area to conceal any dark circles. BarePro liquid foundation in Cashmere 06 was the perfect match for Brooke’s skin tone. For fuller coverage, Baby buffed bareMinerals Matte foundation all over Brooke’s face. Baby chose Invisible Bronze contour shade to define Brooke’s features. Next, Baby applied Gen Nude Call My Blush to Brooke’s cheeks. Baby chose to do a cut crease technique on Brooke’s eyes using Confident for the dark shade and Quartz for the light shade. Lash Domination mascara and Universal Dark eyebrow pencil finished the eye look. Before the lip colors, Original Mineral Veil was brushed all over to blend all of the products flawlessly. Lastly, Baby lined Brooke’s lips with On Point and covered them with XYZ matte lip color.
