Makeover Masterpiece

Story and photos provided by LaRitz Salon & Spa

Our featured makeover this month was created by Add Driskel and Candice Newsom with our guest, Paula Hardin. Paula is a veterinarian who enjoys horses, photography, and martial arts. She has been married for twenty-eight years. Together they have four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Paula was looking for a classy, casual style that gave her confidence and enthusiasm. Candice specializes in working with curly hair. Having thick and curly hair herself, Candice knows how important it is to take proper care of curly locks. In the before picture, you can see that Paula’s hair was dry, frizzy, and lackluster. Candice first started by choosing a base color that would cover gray and also warm up Paula’s natural color. Because Paula’s hair is curly, Candice also wanted to add highlights to give her hair dimension. When it came to the cut, Candice used several techniques to lighten the ends and remove bulk while maintaining length. This will help keep the style low maintenance. When Paula’s hair was still damp, Candice layered Redken’s Curvaceous Curl Refiner and Full Swirl. Then she dried Paula’s hair with a diffuser. For the finishing touch, Candice used Redken’s Glow Dry Oil and Pureology’s Mess It Up Texture Hair Paste.

Add began prepping Paula’s skin with bareMinerals Original Prime Time. This provided a smooth surface by filling in any fine lines and visibly reducing pores. Add chose the BAREPRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation. Then concealer was applied on Paula’s under eye area and set with the Original Powder Foundation. You Had Me At Merlot blush was a great color for Paula’s complexion. For her eyes, Add used Blushing Pink 5-in-1 cream eyeshadow all over and 5-in-1 Smokey Espresso to add depth. Add chose Lash Domination mascara to finish Paula’s eyes. Dark Blonde brow powder was used to enhance Paula’s natural eyebrow shape and color. Add completed Paula’s makeup with Pout lip liner and Naughty matte lip color.
