Makeover Masterpiece

Story and photos provided by LaRitz Salon & Spa

Katie Coon is this month’s beautiful makeover. She is attending school to get her Master’s  Degree in Business Analytics. Katie is also a small business owner. She enjoys taking photos and playing with her black lab, Boone Pickens. She and her brother and parents are from Tulsa. Katie’s daily getting ready process consists of letting her hair air dry, using a wand to curl it and then applying her makeup.

When Katie came into the salon, she had grown out, blonde highlighted, hair. She wanted her hair to be closer to her natural color.  With Katie’s hair being so light on the ends, Stylist Candice Newsom knew she needed to put the missing pigment back in Katie’s hair before applying the desired shade. This process will allow the color to be truer to tone and last longer. Candice used a conditioning gloss that leaves the hair feeling better than before it was colored. The shade Candice selected accented Katie’s eyes perfectly. To continue a healthy look and feel, Candice cut three and a half inches from Katie’s length and added some long layers. To style, Candice applied Pureology’s Root Lift all over and used a round brush to blow dry. Candice used Redken’s Wax Blast finishing spray to provide a medium hold with texture.

For Katie’s makeup, Candice first prepped her skin with Brightening PrimeTime. Candice used BarePro in Sandstone as the perfect foundation for Katie’s complexion. For Katie’s eyes, Candice applied Magnate eyeshadow all over, Get Ahead in the creases, and Shmooze on the lids. For a highlight under the brow and in the inner corners, Candice used Curtsy. Universal Dark brow pencil helped shape Katie’s natural eyebrows. Lash Domination mascara finished the eye look. Candice chose Illuminating Mineral Veil as a highlighter and Pout gloss was the perfect shade for Katie’s lips.
