Lexi Matthews is our beautiful makeover for October. She is currently a freshman at Oklahoma State University and works at our salon company as an Associate Stylist. Lexi is also the coach of the Perkins Color Guard. She lives in Stillwater with her grandparents. She has two younger sisters as well as a foster brother. In the little free time she has, Lexi enjoys hanging out with her friends.
In the before picture, you can see that Lexi was already blonde but it had become uneven and dull. Our stylist, Cameron Frizell, wanted to brighten Lexi’s hair. They were going for a neutral white with a blended root area. Cameron used a combination of foiling and balayage to create
the brightness of the blonde. Once that was processed, Cameron applied a darker color at Lexi’s root for a shadow effect. Shadow rooting is a great way to keep it natural looking. A bright toner was added to the rest of the hair to control the warmth. After Cameron was satisfied with the color, she did a basic trim all over to remove all of the split ends while still maintaining her length. When the hair was still damp, Cameron used Redken’s new Extreme Play Safe leave-in treatment to protect Lexi’s hair from any heat source. Her hair was then dried with a Wet Brush. Cameron wanted to add some texture throughout Lexi’s style so she used a marcel iron to create waves after she sprayed Redken’s Iron Shape all over. Lexi’s finishing spray was Redken’s new Triple Pure, a neutral fragrance high hold hairspray. For a little fun touch, Cameron used one of our scrunchies to accent and show off Lexi’s new beautiful hair color.
