For our February makeover, we are featuring Morgan Brown. She is a 7th and 8th-grade art and global studies teacher at Jenks Middle School. She spends most of her time outside of school painting, watching movies, and reading. Morgan lives in Tulsa with her husband, Travis, and their two dogs, Zeus and Bacchus.
Morgan has had extremely long hair for most of her life, but about a month ago, she decided that she was ready for something new. Morgan said that washing and fixing her hair had become a burden, so she needed a change. Before the color was applied, Morgan’s stylist, owner Jayne Lane, cut off sixteen inches of hair! After the majority of Morgan’s hair was cut, Jayne used a balayage technique to brighten all over. After that was processed to the desired lightness, Jayne applied a shadow root using a mixture of mocha and copper-red. This makes for a more natural, lived-in look. The remaining hair was toned with bright copper and red. Redken’s Frizz Dismiss shampoo and conditioner were used to fight frizz and enhance shine. To complete the haircut, Jayne added long layers throughout and face-framing pieces to add movement and shape. Redken’s Pillow Proof Primer spray was misted all over Morgan’s hair to speed up drying time. Frizz Dismiss Rebel Tame was also applied to rehydrate and protect from the heat of the styling tools. Jayne first styled Morgan’s hair straight then added waves to show the versatility of her new style. The look was finished with Pureology’s Soft Finish Hairspray.
“This is SO much easier to maintain. I actually have time to shower in the morning with plenty of time to fix my hair,” said Morgan. “My students were a little freaked out, at first, but everyone’s reaction has been really positive. This style suits me.”
