Makeover Masterpiece October 2016

Story and photos provided by LaRitz Salon & Spa

Leah Cangelose is a mother to four amazing children: Carter, Cora, Waverly, and Eden. Her husband, Chris, is a paramedic and together they founded and run a non profit named Limitless. They reach out to young people in our community and provide support for at risk youth. Leah has had many looks over the past fifteen years as a client at LaRitz. Shortly after an extremely difficult pregnancy with her fourth child, Eden, Leah wanted to feel like herself again. Brooklyn Lane has been doing Leah’s hair for several years so she knew exactly how to make her feel awesome.

Leah’s hair had become lifeless. Her color had faded and her haircut had lost its shape. Brooklyn wanted to create more depth and richness with Leah’s color. Brooklyn deepened the root color with a dark violet red. She used a balayage technique to strategically add blonde pieces and applied a violet red gloss to the remaining hair. After the color was processed, Brooklyn applied a deep conditioning treatment to Leah’s hair. For the cut, Brooklyn took the length up a little bit while removing any distressed ends. Leah curls her hair often so adding more layers will keep her hair from getting too heavy and weighing her curls down. To style, Brooklyn put in Redken’s Pillow Proof Primer, Anti Snap, and Guts before blow drying. BioIonic’s 1 inch Stylewinder was used to create soft beachy waves.

Leah has been using bareMinerals for a few years but she wanted to try some of their new products. Brooklyn prepped her skin with Bare Haven, a moisturizing soft cream, and Skinlongevity, a vital power infusion serum. Under Leah’s eyes, Brooklyn used bareSkin serum concealer. She applied Complexion Rescue gel-cream foundation followed by the new barePRO performance wear foundation for added coverage. Next, The One blush was swept across the apples of her cheeks. For her eyes, Brooklyn chose the Posh Neutrals 8.0 palette because it had plums and light neutral colors to accentuate Leah’s eye color. Absolute Black liner was used before Lash Domination mascara was applied. Brooklyn defined Leah’s eyes by filling and shaping her eyebrows with Frame & Define brow pencil in Light. The perfect pink nude for Leah’s lips was bareMinerals new GEN NUDE Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Infamous. Mineral Veil set the entire look.

Leah was amazed at how much her new color brightened up her face. She had multiple people tell her they loved the colors and thought it was a perfect transition to the fall season.
