This school year, Meridian Technology Center welcomes three new instructors to the team. Jeff Littau, Doug Jones and Rick Carlile all bring their experience and expertise to Meridian students.
Doug Jones is a new Health Careers Instructor. Jones served 14 years in health care in the U.S. Air Force, including active duty. He brings experience as an LPN, EMT, EMT instructor, CMA instructor and medical simulation instructor at the Bremerton Naval Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. Most recently, Jones worked as an engineering technician at Delphinus Engineering Inc. in Keyport, Washington. He says he is excited for the opportunity to teach at Meridian. “I’ve wanted to teach since I was a freshman in high school,” Jones said.
Jeff Littau is the new Energy and Power Instructor. He comes from seven years working for Tech Inc. in Perkins where he designed machines for semiconductor manufacturing facilities and assisted inventors with the designs they brought to the company for prototyping. He has degrees in math education and mechanical engineering as well as experience in carpentry and facilities management. Littau is ready to pass his experience on to his students. “I came here out of a desire to help students better themselves,” said Littau.
Rick Carlile joined Meridian last semester as a substitute and is now a full-time Automotive Technology Instructor. He comes with decades of experience. “I started fixing cars at nine,” he said. Carlile attended Western Technology Center’s Auto Technology program in high school and later opened his own auto repair shop. He sold the shop almost two years ago to retire, but through conversations with friends he realized his interest in teaching. “I love a challenge. That’s what drives me,” said Carlile.
