Police chief participates in Stillwater’s Justice for George Floyd peaceful demonstration

Stillwater Chief of Police Jeff Watts stands among citizens at the Justice for George Floyd peaceful demonstration in front of city hall on June 3, 2020. The City closed the 700 block of south Lewis street and the east half of the parking lot across from city hall to accommodate participants.

The city and the police department stand with the organizers of this demonstration in their call to ensure that everyone is treated equally by police officers and that rogue police officers are held accountable for their actions.

For the remainder of today, access to City Hall services will be limited. Citizens requiring in-person assistance at City Hall must come to the Police Department lobby. Access to the Police Department lobby from 7th street sidewalk on the north side of the building.
