Need a book to read? Or perhaps several thousand? The Friends of the Stillwater Public Library will be hosting its Spring Used Book Sale Thursday, April 11 through Sunday, April 14 featuring thousands of books, DVDs and audios for .25-$1.
According to Holly Luetkenhaus, President of the Friends of the Stillwater Public Library, the book sale has a little bit of something for everyone.
“The sale has just about everything you’d want and for cents on the dollar,” said Luetkenhaus. “From popular fiction and classics to great biographies, cookbooks and homeschool curriculum.”
Three rooms will be filled with used hardbacks, paperbacks, children’s books, audiobooks, CDs and videos. Hardbacks sell for $1, paperbacks and audio-visual material for .50 and children’s books for a quarter.
“A fun part of the sale is the chance to buy hard to find items,” said Luetkenhaus. “Old LPs, strange and fascinating hobby books, out of print science fiction, rare local materials and a selection of pre-1950 gems.”
Held in the meeting room building of the Stillwater Public Library, 1107 S. Duck, the sale kicks off Thursday with a Friends’ members-only preview sale from 5 to 8 p.m.
Membership in the Friends of the Stillwater Public Library is open to the public for an annual fee of $10. Memberships can be purchased at the door before the preview sale and are good for the calendar year. Buyers at the preview sale will be limited to 100 items, including 50 children’s books.
The general public is invited to attend the three-day sale on Friday, April 12 from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, April 14 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. On Sunday, all items that can be fit into a bag provided by the Friends of the Library will cost just $1. There is no limit to the number of bags purchased.
Proceeds from the book sales support library services, materials and programs including, the children’s and teen activities.
Donations of items for the Friends sale are greatly appreciated and are accepted year around. These donations should be brought directly to the Stillwater Public Library at the corner of 12th and Duck. Carts are available and staff can assist as needed. Donation receipts can also be requested.
