Stillwater City Council Names Brady Moore as Interim City Manager

Mayor Joyce and Councilors met this evening in Executive Session to discuss transitional leadership, naming Brady Moore as interim City Manager to lead after current City Manager McNickle retires on May 15 through the hiring process to fill the position.

“We appreciate Brady serving in this crucial position – continuing efforts to increase and secure economic development, enhance the quality of life, and ensure those living in or visiting our community are safe,” said Mayor Will Joyce.

Current City Manager Norman McNickle will retire after more than 46 years of service that began October 14, 1976 as an officer with the Stillwater Police Department. He worked his way through the ranks, from Patrol Officer, Investigator, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain and was named Chief of Police in 1987. He was appointed Public Safety Director then interim City Manager in 2015, and named City Manager in 2016.

“While I am not applying for City Manager, I am honored to fill the interim position to ensure current projects remain on track,” said Assistant City Manager Brady Moore. “We have much work to do and we want to make sure the transition of leadership is as seamless as possible.”

Mayor Joyce shared that Council will continue working with an outside firm in the nationwide search to fill the position. Internal candidates are encouraged to participate in that hiring process.
