The Stillwater Junior Service League will host the sixth annual Scorcher Half Marathon and 5K race on Sunday, June 2nd in Stillwater, OK.

The USA Track and Field certified and sanctioned course will begin and end at the Stillwater Pioneer Football Stadium and will feature a path around the Oklahoma State University campus, the Kameoka Trail, and Boomer Lake.

The Scorcher has become a tradition for some of the participants. This is a race for both the Stillwater Community and out of town runners.

“I’m looking forward to another successful event this year and am so happy to be a part of it,” said this year’s race director, Becca Beasley.  “All levels of running capabilities are invited to participate in this race. We have groups of runners coming from multiple states, many community and school running clubs, plus groups of families and friends to have fun or challenge themselves.”

Half-marathon and 5K participants will receive a race bag, T-shirt, and finisher medal. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers for the half marathon. Awards will be given to the top finishers of both races overall as well as in male and female age groups.

All proceeds go to the Stillwater Junior Service League, which supports the Stillwater and surrounding communities and various agencies through the efforts of Harvest II (community-wide food drive), Operation Christmas (community-wide toy drive), and Crisis Intervention (offering immediate aid to children at surrounding schools).
