As part of the Stillwater Public Library’s “Simple Steps to Better Health” program, Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc. and local attorneys will be holding a seminar and clinic on medical and end of life documents.
The program begins with a three hour class on Thursday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. when local attorney Lowell Barto, Stillwater attorney, and Rick Goralewicz, from Oklahoma City’s Legal Aid, will explain and discuss topics such as wills, probate, powers of attorney, advanced health care directives, DNRs, Medicaid, simple trusts and more.
Participants at the April 13 program will be invited to make an appointment for the Will Clinic taking place on Thursday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Will Clinic appointments are approximately one hour each. Attorneys will draw up each participant’s legal documents based on questionnaires they will receive at the April 13 program.
“If you have not yet had these documents prepared, this is the perfect opportunity to do so,” said Stacy Boyles, Legal Aid paralegal. “It is crucial that others understand your wishes and that you, your property and your family’s interests are protected.”
The seminar and the Will Clinic will take place at the Stillwater Public Library. Both events are free and open to the public, though seniors are especially encouraged to attend.
To sign up for the April 13 class, contact the library Help Desk at (405) 372-3633 x8106 or email askalibrarian@stillwater.org. “Simple Steps” participants who have already signed-up for the class through the April registration form do not need to register again.
People interested in the Will Clinic who cannot attend the April 13 class may ask to be placed on the Will Clinic wait list. If appointments are open, people on the wait list will be contacted.
