Story and photo provided by Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History
There are plenty of legends, myths, and stories about the house that occupies 1509 W. 9th Avenue in Stillwater. On June 16, 2017, the Stillwater Museum Association invites one and all to the “Wine Country Fair Picnic” at the Historic Hamilton House at 1509 W. Ninth Ave. This fundraiser for the Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History helps sustain programming, exhibits, and everything involved with a non-profit local history museum.
Seth (Hays) Hamilton was a significant player in early Stillwater history and is credited with inspiring locals to work hard to bring the land-grant college to town. Throughout the 20th Century the Hamilton House has been home to many local and visiting residents, many of whom come from well-known families in the community.
On June 16, the Stillwater Museum Association will host a buffet dinner and provide an historic tour of the house that will include many stories from the last 100 years.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the museum. For more information call the museum at 405-377-0359 or email info@sheerarmuseum.org.
