Starting in January, the 6th Avenue Corridor Study Advisory Committee has been meeting to examine how best to develop better north/south connections and maximize human scale development in areas adjacent to 6th Avenue. Now, the committee would like to hear what residents have to say.
The City’s Community Development and Engineering departments will be hosting a public visioning meeting on Wednesday, March 31. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Winfrey D. Houston Theater in the Community Center at 315 W. 8th Ave. Face coverings are required in the Community Center and will be provided to residents upon entry.
Participants can expect to discuss topics like: active transportation (bikes and pedestrians), north/south connections across the corridor, where new redevelopment could take place, and how to better connect the corridor to adjacent areas like downtown, campus, and neighborhood areas.
Senior Planner Rian Harkins said, “We are really excited about this project. The input we collect is going to help provide the City of Stillwater with direction as it creates a vision for one of the community’s major arterials. We want the community to help define the aesthetics, connectivity, traffic flow, and quality of life in and along the corridor for the next generation.”
