Late last spring, Stillwater was abuzz with excitement. There was a movie crew filming in our town and many of our local residents were extras. With the working title of “Stillwater,” local residents speculated about the movie. What is the movie about? When and where would it air? We finally have some answers and a chance to have our curiosity satisfied.
“If Looks Could Kill” is the final title of the film and according to IMDb, it is “Based on true events.” Whether or not those true events happened in Stillwater is still up for conjecture.
Plot Summary: Based on true events, Faith is proud to finally be a cop in her hometown where she joins old flame Paul on the force. She is soon troubled and a bit disappointed when he becomes romantically involved with Jessica, a dangerous beauty with a criminal past. So when Jessica starts an affair with an impressionable young man, Faith must build a case against her before Jessica puts her deadly plans in place.
One has to assume that there is a liberal amount of fictionalization of whatever these “true events” may be. The movie is a “tense neo noir thriller,” to quote it’s Director and co-writer, James Cullen Bressack, who co-wrote the movie with Zack Ward (many know him as “Scut Farkus” from A Christmas Story.) “If Looks Could Kill” is Bressack’s twelfth film which he regularly posted to social media about on his Twitter and Facebook pages, calling it “a wild ride.” Bressack is known for his B movies which heavily feature the horror and thriller genre.
Bressack provides some insight into the story behind the film, why he wanted to make it, and why he wanted to film it in Stillwater in the Oklahoma Horizon segment below:
A trailer for the movie has been released as well as an air date, time, and channel. If Looks Could Kill will air on December 31, 2016 on the Lifetime Movie Network. Make sure you are looking at Lifetime Movie Network and not Lifetime–there is a difference between the two channels and some cable/satellite packages may not include LMN. According to IMDb it will air at 7pm and again at 11pm. So be sure to check your channel guides, because last we checked it did not specify time zones.
