Around Town: The New Year’s Resolutions Edition

Story by Ammie Bryant, Editor

A new year brings new beginnings, a chance for a fresh start, and the hope for new opportunities to pursue your goals.  While many of us make resolutions to be healthier, statistics show that most of those resolutions will fall by the wayside in a few months. But statistics also show that if you want to achieve a goal, you must make a plan. To that end, if you are thinking about pursuing a healthier lifestyle, we wanted to give you a bit of a boost in making those plans by presenting a list of some of the top-rated gyms and fitness centers available in Stillwater.

Each of these locations offers a wide variety of equipment, classes, and/or expertise as well as differing levels of training options from the beginner to the athlete. We think at least one of these will be a great fit for you in pursuing your health goals.

Be sure to give these fitness centers a call before visiting to confirm hours, location, and membership rates.

The Y, 204 S. Duck St., 405-372-5833

If you haven’t visited the Stillwater YMCA recently, you are in for a big surprise. When the Stillwater location was taken over as a branch of the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City, the new management made some big improvements. The underused racquetball courts were removed to provide a larger space for a combined cardio and weight training room full of new and updated workout equipment. The renovations have made a big difference in the quality of the workout experience, and we urge our readers to check out the Stillwater Y when considering your options.
