Drive change, make a difference and golf for a good cause.

The Meridian Technology Center Foundation will host a charity golf tournament May 26 at The Golf Club at Cimarron Trails in Perkins to raise scholarship funds for students in full-time career training programs as well as short courses offered at the school.

“Tournaments like this are a great way for individuals and businesses to help support students who may not have the financial resources to get the training and education they need to start a career,” said Rebecca Eastham, Executive Director of the Foundation.

The Meridian Technology Center Foundation assists in the advancement of educational and training opportunities for students attending the school. So far this year, the foundation has awarded more than $63,000 in scholarships to students.

“Golfers are always looking for a reason to get out on the greens, and they are even more eager to do it when it supports something great like education,” Eastham said.

This year one perfect swing can land a lucky golfer with $30,000 in funds to lease a car. Janzen Toyota of Stillwater is sponsoring a hole-in-one competition at the tournament. The prize is reserved for the first player, if any, to land a hole-in-one on the designated hole.

Janzen Toyota Owner Juergen Janzen said he donated the prize because, “The education that Meridian provides is incredibly valuable to the fiber of the community. Scholarship funds raised through the tournament help students in need get training that provides a skillset for a career that will impact their life.”

Registration to play in the tournament is $100 per player or $350 for a four-person team. Hole sponsorships are also available. To sign up visit meridiantech.edu/foundationgolf. For more information contact Tammy Ford at [email protected] or call (405) 377-3333.
