Out with the old, in with the new

From the Editor (January 2021)

By Ammie Bryant

Has there ever been more joy in seeing a year end? Not in my memory. If I could physically burn or bury it, I certainly would.

2020 was rough. Between the political landscape and the pandemic, there was little to celebrate. The fact of the matter is that because of the pandemic, milestones went uncelebrated or at least were not celebrated as we had originally planned. Activities and events were cancelled. We had to adapt–over and over and over again.

But worse than all those lost celebrations and changes in plans are the lives lost. So many needlessly lost. And people’s livelihoods have been impacted as businesses have closed and jobs have been lost.

Our own magazine has been impacted. There will not be a January 2021 print issue, nor will there be another print issue in the foreseeable future. We thank our advertisers that stuck by us through this past year despite the hardships. We wouldn’t have been able to keep going for as long as we did without you.

We will continue to share Stillwater’s stories through this website, so if you have a Stillwater story to share, please send it along so we can share it with our thousands of loyal readers.

And to you loyal reader, we especially thank you for sticking with us and returning here again and again to read and share our stories with your friends and family. It is because of you that we continue this journey digitally. You help make our community the caring, wonderful place we call home.

Cheers to a better year in 2021! May it only get better from here!
