Second reading of face covering ordinance set for Thursday

Media Release

The second reading date is set: Stillwater City Council will consider Ordinance No. 3452 requiring face coverings in public for a second and final time. The special meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9.

The proposed ordinance requires that everyone wears a face covering in all indoor public spaces, including educational institutions, food services, retail and personal service establishments that provides goods or services directly to the public. Exceptions to this requirement are outlined within the ordinance. If the ordinance passes on the second read, it will remain in effect through Nov. 30, 2020. See the meeting agenda and the proposed ordinance at stillwater.org/agenda.

The meeting will be held over Zoom, a videoconference platform. Residents are encouraged to watch virtually, though the Council Hearing Room at the Stillwater Municipal Building (723 S. Lewis St.) will be open to the public. Face coverings are required in the Council Hearing Room, and will be provided to residents upon entry.
