Stillwater Fire Department welcomes new fire marshal, lieutenants

On Friday, June 12, 2020, the Stillwater Fire Department pinned its new fire marshal, Steve Sylvester, and two lieutenants, Zach Miller and Hunter Woods. The City welcomes it’s new marshal and lieutenants and thanks them for their continued service to the Stillwater Community. 

Steve Sylvester

Sylvester was previously the Deputy Fire Marshal before receiving today’s promotion, and is a long-time servant in the City of Stillwater’s Fire Department. He was hired in 1992 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2006. He graduated from Perkins-Tryon High School and attended Northeastern State University. He also attended the National Fire Academy’s Command and Control for multi-alarm incidents and trained for situations including confined space, trench rescue, swift water rescue, ropes, fire service training inspections, auto extrication and instructor duties. He is a member of the Stillwater Firefighters Local 2095 and the International Firefighters Association.

Zach Miller

In December of 2012, Miller graduated from the EOC Tech Fire Academy. He was hired at the Stillwater Fire Department in January of 2013. Zach is an Advanced EMT and serves on the rescue team. In January of 2016, he was promoted to Driver.

Hunter Woods

Hunter Woods is from Midwest City, Oklahoma. In the fall of 2014, he attended the Eastern Oklahoma County Tech Fire Academy. Hunter began his career with the Stillwater Fire Department in March of 2015. Since, he has become certified as an Advanced EMT, Car Seat Technician, and serves on the Hazmat team.
