The Stillwater Marching Band received the Outstanding Music Performance award in class 2A last weekend at the Tulsa Union Renegade Review, the band’s third competition for the year.

In the preliminary round of competition, the band placed second in class 2A and finished within the top six, securing a place in the latter half of the finals round. Choctaw took top honors in class 2A. During finals competition, Stillwater placed 6th overall.

“Our staff has been very happy with the progress of our students so far this year,” said Director Kevin Zamborsky. “They have made a lot of progress both musically and visually, as is evidenced by their placement this past weekend. We are all excited to see how the students will push themselves as we approach the end of the marching season.”

The band will perform next on Thursday, October 14, at the Pioneer Football Homecoming Game. The halftime performance will be a shortened version of the Band’s “Cathedrals” show to accommodate the band’s Senior Night. The band will perform for ratings only at OSSAA on October 26 and compete for the state championships at the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association Contest on October 30.
