Stillwater Medical Center volunteers are holding a silent auction/bake sale to benefit Stillwater Mobile Meals on August 21, 2019, in the main lobby hall behind registration at Stillwater Medical Center.

Mobile Meals is a non-profit organization that has delivered hot, nutritious noontime meals to the elderly, homebound, and convalescing citizens of Stillwater since 1972. The meals are delivered by volunteers Monday through Friday. The goal of the Mobile Meals program is to help individuals maintain their independence and continue to live in their own homes for as long as possible.

“Mobile Meals was a big help to me after my back surgery in May.  The volunteers that brought the meals were very friendly and helpful.  It was nice seeing a new face every day,” said Mobile Meals recipient Anita Friedemann.  “The meals were good and usually there was enough for my evening dinner. I would recommend them to anyone, especially during an illness or recovering at home from a surgery or hospital stay.”

If a client cannot afford the full cost of the meal, arrangements are made to fit their budget. The meal costs each client $4.00.  Mobile Meals currently subsidizes almost half of their clients and served 27,650 meals to 192 individuals in 2018. Mobile Meals spent $10,968 on subsidized meals.

Mobile Meals is not a government agency and does not receive any federal or state funding. Mobile Meals is supported by the United Way and the Stillwater community.

The event starts at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 2:00 p.m.  There will be lots of silent auction items as well as delicious baked goods to purchase.

Some of the silent auction items will be plants, flower arrangements, cat/dog basket, quilt, handmade cards and pens, restaurant and chocolate gift cards, Arthur Court platter, goat soap, crystal, delicious jellies, candied jalapenos, and a photography package.

Please plan on attending and know your donations are going to a good cause to help our community.  100% of the proceeds from this event benefits Mobile Meals.
