Bike to Friday Food Trucks & Tunes Pedalpalooza Friday, Aug. 19

MEDIA RELEASE

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / Aug. 10, 2016) – Bring your bikes and tricycles to Downtown Stillwater Friday, Aug. 19 for Friday Food Trucks and Tunes Pedalpalooza from 6 to 10 p.m.

“Stillwater is a bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community, and we wanted to find a way to share our city’s bike culture with the community in a fun and safe way,” Interim Transportation Director Sharla Lovern said. “We will have a free bike valet service at the event, so we encourage everyone to bike downtown and enjoy our special, themed activities.”

Some of Stillwater’s most popular food truck vendors will be in attendance, along with a live entertainment lineup featuring the Aaron Woods Band, the Red Dirt Rangers and a professional bicycle freestyle stunt show from Nowear BMX.

A mini-bike rodeo will take place during the first hour of the event, including stations focusing on bicycle safety, helmet and seat checks and an obstacle course to practice turns, signaling, starting and stopping on a bike. The first 150 participants in the bike rodeo will receive a free Pedalpalooza bike bell.

There will also be a bike decorating station and a bike parade following the mini-rodeo and BMX demonstration.

Participants also have the chance to enter a raffle to win a free fitted bicycle from District Bicycles in Downtown Stillwater.

Entrants can complete a Pedalpalooza coloring sheet or fill out the City of Stillwater bicycle/pedestrian trail survey at the event to be entered into the drawing.

The winner of the raffle must contact District Bicycles within 30 days of the event to claim their prize.

Participants on bicycles are required to wear a helmet at Friday Food Trucks and Tunes Pedalpalooza. A select number of borrowed bicycles and helmets will be available for individuals without bikes to use.

To accommodate these special features, Friday Food Trucks and Tunes will take place at the green space at the corner of 8th and Husband. The parking lot in this space to the west of Husband will be closed all day Friday before the event.

Adult supervision is required for all children.

Downtown Stillwater’s Friday Food Trucks and Tunes are held every Friday from April through August and the Fridays before OSU home football games in September and October.
