It’s February and that means Valentine’s Day is on the horizon, but it also means we are a month into the new year. How are those New Year’s Resolutions going?
While I have not been perfect in making healthy choices, I am still working towards my goals and making progress. In addition to my health goals, I’ve also been working on cleaning out and organizing my bedroom. I am making progress by tackling small projects a little at a time, beginning with my closet. Slow and steady wins the race, after all.
We have several articles this month that can help you towards your health-related goals. TSET has suggestions for healthy snacks. The Stillwater Public Library has a new program to help patrons learn simple steps to better health. We also have the second in our series on Stillwater’s healthy food resources.
Other features, this month, focus on some great entertainment and memory-making opportunities. While not a Stillwater event, the Battle of Round Mountain Civil War reenactment in Yale is a great chance for Stillwater residents to steep themselves in living history. There are many reenactors from our town who participate and I am sure they would enjoy seeing their friends and neighbors attend the event. At the end of February, the Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History will debut a display on the history of Stillwater’s Grand Opera House with a special event that will include entertainments similar to those you might have seen at the Opera House in its glory days.
Of course February brings Valentine’s Day. A girl’s first love is often her daddy and our cover this month pays tribute to that special relationship as we take a look at Stillwater’s twelfth annual “Dancing with Daddy”. As my daughter and husband prepare to participate for the tenth time, they share what this annual event has meant to them.
These are just a few of the highlights from our February issue, we hope you will dig in and discover all that it has in store.
Happy Valentine’s Day friends!
