Classic Cinema at the Stillwater Community Center presents “Bringing up Baby”

Laughs abound for one of Hollywood’s craziest, zaniest romantic comedies Bringing Up Baby starring Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Presented by Classic Cinema at the Center at 7 pm on Friday evening, January 13, in the Winfrey Houston Auditorium at the Stillwater Community Center.  While a scatterbrained heiress drags a subdued paleontologist through predicaments with a leopard – an improbable romance survives. The reputation of this 1938 comedy directed by Howard Hawks has grown over the years. Now it is considered one of the greatest Romantic Comedies — showcasing the talents of Hepburn and Grant.

1938 Romantic Comedy Bringing Up Baby
Harried paleontologist David Huxley (Cary Grant) has to make a good impression on society matron Mrs. Random (May Robson), who is considering donating one million dollars to his museum. On the day before his wedding, Huxley meets Mrs. Random’s high-spirited young niece, Susan Vance (Katharine Hepburn), a madcap adventuress who immediately falls for the straitlaced scientist. The ever-growing chaos — including a missing dinosaur bone and a pet leopard — threatens to swallow him whole.
Directed by Howard Hawks and starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Barry Fitzgerald.
