The public is invited to witness a ceremony for officer promotions and pinning within the Stillwater Police Department (SPD).
Sergeant Jeremy Rager and Officer Kurt Merrill will be promoted to lieutenant and sergeant positions during a ceremony on Thursday, June 3. The ceremony will start at 3 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at the Stillwater Municipal Building, 723. S. Lewis St.
Merrill worked for the Payne County Sheriff’s Office as a field deputy before joining the SPD in 2007. He is being promoted to sergeant and will be assigned to midnight patrol as a shift supervisor.
Rager began his career at the Stillwater Police Department in 2001. He left SPD in 2009, graduated the 59th Oklahoma Highway Patrol academy and worked as a state trooper in Payne County for two years before returning to the SPD in 2011. Rager is a crisis / hostage negotiator and has been a member of the Stillwater multi-jurisdictional special operations team for 11 years. He has also served as a field training officer and assisted with the citizens academy. Rager is being promoted to 1st watch Lieutenant.
RSVPs are not required to attend the event.
The ceremony will also be broadcast live on Suddenlink channel 14, AT&T U-verse channel 99 and the City of Stillwater’s YouTube channel for those who cannot attend in person.
